A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

St. Joseph's High School (Estd. – 1963)

The Almighty God carried on his wings a journey of 50 years is a sign of Jubilation. An Aura of Golden Jubilee arrays into our midst. As you trace its History a million memories and thousands of thoughts flash through your mind each vying with the other to be written down, to be recorded and you can not decide where to start.

St. Joseph's dates back to the year 1961 located in Rudrampur which is in the heart of Coal belt Area Singareni Collieries Co.Ltd., Kothagudem. I t was a remote hamlet where illiteracy and ignorance clouded the area. It was a crucial period for the employees who had no chance of educating Ihe children. The Management of Singarcni Collieries Company Limited approached Rev.Fr.Silva, the then Parish Priest of Kothagudem Catholic church. They requested him to start a School at Rudrampur. He communicated the seed of thought through the Bishop of Warangal and coiitacted "The Montfort Brothers of St.Gabriel", who are recognised at national and international levels. Rev. Bro. Amancius was deputed in the year 1961 to start a school at Rudrampur. The foundation stone was laid and within a span of one and half years a strong storeyed building came out in its vicinity. On 10th June 1963. the School was inaugurated by Sri Nargunkar, the then Managing Director of S.C.Co.Ltd. At its inception, there were 130 students, 8 Teachers, 2 Nun Sisters belonging to the Order of Sisters of Charity. Four classes namely I to IV formed the Primary School. The Staff was provided free quarters to remain and render services to the Institution.

Under the stewardship of various Principals, the seed of thought imparted to meteoric heights.

"The Montfort Brothers of St.Gabriel" are none other than the Angelic hosts on this Planet Earth came to translate and transform the ordinary to extraordinary beings. They are precious gems in the garden of SL Montfort.
